Our client is an open pit gold mining company that has been operating since 1996 and is based in Mali.
Key Assignment
- Providing a service to the General Manager by ensuring appropriate labour strategies. plans and systems are in place to maintain adequate labour complements for best possible productivity;
- Manage the implementation of the newly developed Human Resources Operating Model;
- Manage and optimize the Human Resource data and BI elements;
- Re-establishment of people practices i.e., performance management, succession planning, localization planning, talent identification etc.;
- Contribute or amend the Human Resource Strategy and plans to meet future business requirements;
- Securing and developing the people capabilities required for current and future mine requirements by setting major human resources objectives and priorities and driving implementation of people related projects and strategies;
- Providing guidance for employee engagement and conflict resolution in a strong unionised environment, whilst maintaining good relations with unions and relevant local authorities;
- Ensuring adherence to employment legislation for both local and expatriate employees;
- Driving management ownership of people solutions and practices, developing a culture of continuous improvement across the function, and delivering on Site and Board reporting and governance requirements
Skills Required
- A minimum of 10 years related experience, eight (8) of which must have been spent in a senior management role;
- People management experience, including proven ability to identify and develop talent;
- Ability to manage multiple projects;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Law, Social science;
- or any other related field
- previous experience in the mining industry is desirable
